Lord’s a leaping at prospect of centenary dinner - Friday 3rd November 2006

Lords SchoolThe next fundraising leg of Bury FC’s partnership programme with Lord’s Independent School is fast approaching as a dinner dance follows the highly successful 20/20 cricket challenge.

The 3rd November dinner extravaganza at the Last Drop Village, Bolton, is attracting great interest from parents and past pupils alike, and promises to be a memorable affair with guests enjoying a fabulous three-course meal, a selection of guest speakers and performers, a firework display and dancing ‘til late. There are also a number of great prizes on offer for those attending the celebration, including a signed match-worn shirt from Essex and England cricket star Darren Gough.

The purpose of the event is to raise funds for the school and soccer scholarship fund, which will see a talented youngster spending four days a week at the school on a specially tailored timetable, with the fifth weekday set aside for additional training with the Football Club’s youth team.

An earlier function to celebrate this joint scholarship was a memorable 20/20 cricket clash between a Bury FC XI and a Bolton Wanderers FC Legends XI at Darcy Lever CC a fortnight ago, which raised over £1,000.

Tickets for the dinner are currently available from principal Zoe Whittle at Lord’s School priced at £29.50 each or £295 for a table of ten, which includes acknowledgment in the commemorative brochure and a table setting featuring sponsor or company details. She can be contacted on 01204 523731 for all ticket sales and information.

Zoe believes the event will be a fantastic commemoration of the scholarship programme and an event to remember for all who attend. She claimed:

“We’re always striving for excellence at Lord’s School, and we’ve certainly had an excellent response to all our centenary year so far – in particular the great turn-out we enjoyed for the 20/20 cricket challenge.

“I’m sure the success will continue at our celebration dinner, which should be an extremely memorable and pleasurable evening.”

Fashion ShowFashion Show and Sale - Wednesday 1st November 2006

If you want to make sure you stand out from the crowd in this winter’s fashion stakes there’s only one place to shop – Gigg Lane, of course!

The Social Club will be opening its doors to all the club’s female fans on Wednesday 1st November at 7.30pm as we bring designer and high street clothing direct to you as we look to repeat one of our ever popular ‘Fashion Show and Sale’ events.

All the latest ranges will be paraded and available to buy at a fraction of the normal retail cost, and while the fashion will be aimed at the ladies, there’s no reason why you can’t bring the fellas along to splash some cash!

Even if you don’t fancy buying on the night, everyone’s welcome to simply come along and enjoy the show, with the chance to enjoy a drink or two at the same time.

The Centre of Excellence department has been allocated a batch of tickets for the show which are available for just £2 each. The proceeds raised will be pumped directly back into the department to keep improving facilities for our stars of the future, and you can pick up your ticket now by visiting the refreshment hut at Goshen on Centre of Excellence training and match days, or by calling Jason Adams of the Parents’ Committee on 07901 506 892.
